It's Coming!

Less than 3 weeks! EEEE!

Today I bought some awesome luggage and I've practiced packing. It's going to be hard having to shave down what I'm taking with me, but I'll figure it all out. I'm not so much worried about space, it's just weight. I have to get them under 50 lbs. And I'm going to want to leave room for more stuff. Well, I'm sure as soon as I get there, I won't worry about it too much.

I don't know if I mentioned it, but I got my visa. That was when it really hit me. All this week has been me realizing that in 3 weeks I will be wondering the streets of Vienna, with a pastry in one hand, a map in the other....and my German dictionary in my backpack.

Well, for all 3 of you that actually read this, I'll be keeping you posted on my adventures abroad. I'll upload pictures, tell you all my embarassing language mess ups and maybe brag about the chocolate.

Man in the Mirror

I don't know why, but this is my current obsession. I admit I do like a lot of Michael Jackson's music. I have been having this song run through my head for the past week. Maybe it's a sign I'm supposed to be making a change. Haha, who knows?

Anyway, sit back and enjoy the music, or maybe just watch this great dance

Update

So I'm not a very good blogger. I'm sorry I've failed all 3 of you that actually read this. I guess an update is in order.

The past 2 weeks have been AWESOME and here's why:

  • My visa application was completed and submitted. Finally. Hopefully they liked it so I can get the pretty stamp in my passport.
  • I made some great friends here and went to a couple of parties. That always makes life more enjoyable.
  • We got a new VCR since the old one pooped out. That means we can watch Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. It's so much better having a larger selection of movies. I was getting sick of Harry Potter and Toy Story.
  • I got a short term loan and a new credit card. Okay, maybe I shouldn't have told you that, but it's a big deal 'cause I don't really have all that much money for Vienna.
  • A bunch of my friends are going on missions.
  • I've eaten more broccoli and actually enjoyed it! (Seriously, if you know me, that's HUGE! I'm a picky eater)
  • I got a letter from my friend Spencer in the army.
  • I finished my book the Host (highly recomend it) and bought Breaking Dawn last night.
  • I also bought a new outfit last night.
  • Brenda and I also ate Thai food last night (with broccoli!)
  • I did baptisms at the temple today. It was my first time in the San Diego temple. I think I should go more often.
  • I fly to Vienna in 1 MONTH TOMORROW!

K, so there was the stinky part about not having a full day off at all this week and other things that go with that, but overall life is great!

P.S. I forgot that Jonah said something really cute the other night. Jemma was being annoying and wouldn't go to bed and my sister could hear her bugging Jonah. Then Jonah yelled down to her "Mom, jemma's kicking me! Ow, Jemma, that hurts my heart! Stop Jemma, that hurts my heart." She went up to find Jemma's foot pushing on Jonah's chest, but it just sounded so funny.

My Glamorous Life

Here are some things that have happened this week.

-I've wiped snot from Jemma's nose because she and Jonah had colds.

-Felt sick to my stomach for 2 days straight.

-Walked through a spiderweb and got a spider on me. This is the 3rd time I've done this.

-Went to the park with the kids, where on the swings, Jonah has a great conversation with our friends Ronan's and Waylon's moms that included:

  • "I threw up on the couch." (He had in fact done this, but it was over a week ago because his dad fed him too much junk food. The moms then were probably afraid of him getting their kids sick.
  • "Jemma doesn't have a penis." (Very true, but I don't know where it came from.)

-Tried to sleep through Jemma talking in her sleep. Yep, she talks in her sleep. Last night she mumbled for a little bit, then out loud said, "Mommy, I pooped." I guess that's what a 2 yr-old dreams about.

-Swept up a million leaves from the back porch. Okay, that wasn't bad. My friend Jacob came and helped and it only took an hour. BUT, there were a ton of huge spiders and considering that was only a few hours ago, there should not be so many leaves already. Seriously, why do they keep falling?

-Cleaned up Jonah's throw-up. He was really tired and was having a tantrum and he still has this cough which triggered his weak gag reflex. It wasn't that much, but it was on my arm because I was holding him at the time. Yeah, I know, I live a glamorous life.

Short Hair

This past winter term I took marriage prep. No, I'm not looking to get married anytime soon, but it was Dr. Barlow's last semester teaching. I loved the class, it was great and Professor Barlow professed a lot of great things.

One thing that he told us, was most boys at BYU prefer girls with long hair. Well, with that in mind, I'm stickin' it to the men at BYU! I have joined the short hair club and I like it.

I don't understand why men want women with long hair. They are just asking for high maintenance girls and then they complain when they take so long to get ready. Not all girls can wear short hair and I feel for those who can't....Actually, anyone really can, if they are confident enough, it doesn't matter. Don't boys want confident girls? Don't boys want practical girls? Short hair is practical.

Here are some reasons short hair is great

1. When my hair is wet, the back and shoulders of my shirt aren't soaked through.
2. It takes about the 3rd of the time to blow dry and then doing it takes about and 8th of the time.
3. I can wear cool earings and you can actually see them!
4. I will pay less for shampoo and conditioner.
5. When I lay down, my head doesn't hurt. I don't have that uncomfortable bump that I used to have with my ponytail. It's much more comfortable going to bed.
6. I won't have hair elastics around my wrist. I can actually wear a bracelet! Now I can get rid of the tan line I've developed from always having one or two around my wrist.
7. People will like me for me and not for my hair. (I don't know if that was a problem before, but now I'm 100% positive it isn't a problem now)
8. When I get a drink from a drinking fountain, I don't have to hold my hair.
9. Babies can't pull my hair
10. The back of my neck won't be all sweaty (maybe that was too much info, but you get the point: short is better!)

I mean no offense to any long-haired girls. I think long hair is beautiful, but it's a pain. I'll leave you with proof that short hair can be beautiful...okay, beautiful women can look beautiful with short hair.
